Adults at the Keys/Guitar

 Adults, You Can Play!

Not all of us want or need to be Masters at Performance.  Recreational Music Making is growing all across our country.  Adults who learn to play simply live happier. In fact, the adult music student population is the fastest growing student music group in the country. We believe that making music for the recreational adult hobbyist should be both fun and relaxing. Find your ‘voice’ in music making with us at Mapleford Music Studio.

Our At the Keys course has great foundations and goes at an appropriate pace for working and retired adults. This program has 6 books.   The program is designed specifically for adult hobbyists. You will learn to read and play music and play by chords, all in a stress-free learning environment. The CD will assist you in reviewing your music between class meetings and supplies you with back-up tracks for the songs you play.

The Adults at the Guitar class is both a great way to get started on the guitar or to refresh foundation skills and gain confidence. The first levels of classes are open to all types of 6 string guitars since the foundations are good for any guitar type and style. As in our keyboard classes, the guitar classes are paced for the adult learner and follow our natural model of learning. Once the class has gotten some basics moving we work at adding favorite songs from the class students to our class time!  Be ready to master your “spider”!

Most class groups will get through a whole book in two to three quarters.

As our adult classes grow we will be offering a Celebration of students growing skills by offering occasional socials with a snack or a potluck light meal. Class members may bring family and friends to enjoy time together while listening to background music provided by class members. Guitar students bring their own guitars and the keyboards and grand piano will be set up for piano ensembles, solos, or duets. Class members are not required to play at these events – it is always voluntary.
